LifeStream Receives AABB-CT Accreditation
LifeStream successfully completed its initial AABB-Cellular Therapy assessment in March – with no non-conformances noted – and received AABB-CT accreditation.
Vitalant’s Kara Thompson, clinical services quality director; and Chhavy Thang, quality manager, assisted during the two-day audit that followed a 14-month period of LifeStream staff aligning the organization’s existing SOPs with AABB-CT standards.
“This is a major milestone in our ability to provide life-saving treatments associated with cellular therapy products, such as stem cells,” said Rick Axelrod, MD, LifeStream’s president, CEO and medical director. “I’m very proud of our dedicated, hardworking quality, medical services and advanced collections teams that made this successful assessment possible.”
The successful project – expected to take two years – also was notable since it took place concurrently with a significantly increasing number of LifeStream stem cell collections.
LifeStream became an apheresis center in the National Morrow Donor Program network in 2015.
