Ways to Support Us
Most people naturally think about donating blood when they decide to support their local blood bank. We like the way they think because we need at least 500 donations of blood each day just to meet the basic needs of our neighbors in local hospitals and medical centers.
We also realize that not everyone is able to make regular blood donations and some, for various reasons, aren’t able to donate blood at all. For these reasons, we are happy to offer everyone alternative ways to support our mission of helping save lives by connecting donors and patients through the gift of blood.
In addition to blood donations, we also welcome financial support from donors, businesses, and foundations to help offset the costs of operating seven (7) blood donation centers, conducting 1,700 mobile blood drives each year, and everything that goes into testing, processing and storing blood to ensure our community has a safe, adequate supply of blood at all times. We also strive to purchase new eco-friendly, state-of-the-art mobile coaches to replace our aging, environmentally-deficient mobile fleet. Grant money we received from the San Manuel Band of Mission Indians and OneLegacy helped us purchase our first new mobile coach shown in the pictures below.
Own a business? Consider making a monetary donation in support of every blood donation made by your employees. For example: $10 for every donation x 20 employee blood donations = $200 company donation.
With the unanticipated onset of the COVID-19 pandemic, we have also incurred additional expenses for Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and supplies, while at the same time, have seen a decline in mobile collections. Donations help us purchase supplies that keep everyone safe!
NEW Charitable Contribution Tax Deduction for 2020
The newly enacted 2020 CARES Act is helping many people, businesses and non-profit organizations that are struggling this year. One provision we appreciate is the new option that allows most people who file a personal income tax return to deduct up to $300 in charitable contributions even if they don’t itemize their deductions. We hope you will considering making a contribution to LifeStream if you decide to take advantage of this money-saving, new tax deduction!
Any financial donation you can make to help cover these operating costs is greatly appreciated.
How Can Businesses Help?
Host A Blood Drive
We love it when businesses host blood drives at their locations. It’s even better when they host a drive inside their company’s building. All we need is about 1,000 sq ft of open space and easy access to restrooms. If tables and chairs are available—great! If not, we’re happy to bring them and provide your chairperson with marketing materials and everything they need to host a successful blood drive. These remote blood drives reduce our operating expenses greatly and usually produce more collections. The result is a double win for LifeStream!
Best Practice Tip: Businesses that support their employees by making a monetary donation for each blood donation or by offering each donor a special thank you item do really well.
Donate a Prize Package, Gift Cards or Vouchers
Even if you cannot host a blood drive, you can have a positive impact on other blood drives by offering an attractive incentive prize for LifeStream to award through a sweepstakes drawing. We will promote it to our 80,000-strong blood donor base. Or better yet, donate a voucher or gift card for a cool item or service offered by your business to each blood donor. You will be helping us bring in donors, showing your commitment to our community, and driving traffic to your business. Now, that’s what we call a GREAT partnership!
Sponsor our Community Events
If you support our mission and want to reach our most prolific, dedicated blood donors, sponsor our annual Gift of Life Tribute luncheon that takes place in the Inland Empire. This wonderful event honors about 1,000 blood donors who have given the gift of life over and over again. NOTE: This year’s event that was scheduled to take place in April has been postponed to Sunday, February 28, 2021 at the Riverside Convention Center. Stay tuned for more info later this year.
Of course, if attending and networking at a Coachella Valley first-class fundraising gala is more in tune with your company’s goals, LifeStream’s Thanks4Giving Gala is the perfect opportunity to support us, make new community connections, and grow your business. We guarantee you will enjoy world-class entertainment, a delicious meal, and great company at this elegant affair. Our next gala will be held in November 2021.
Lastly, if fresh air, fitness, family, and fun align with your company values, consider making your presence known at our 2021 Walk4Life to be held in January. We offer a variety of sponsorship levels to meet any business’s budget. You will reach several hundred walkers stepping out in support of LifeStream. The date and location will be announced soon.
To learn more about sponsorship opportunities for these events, or if you have a fundraising idea you would like to share with us, please contact Dan Ballister at 909-677-0136 or at firstname.lastname@example.org.
