Height and Weight Requirements for High School Donors

To ensure safety during blood donation, all student donors must meet certain height and weight requirements. These guidelines are especially important for younger donors whose bodies are still developing. If you’re 16–18 years old and planning to give blood at your high school, please check the chart below to confirm you meet the minimum height and weight standards based on your gender.

Hand Holder Volunteer Program

Some students feel a little nervous about donating blood and that is totally normal. That is where Hand Holders come in.

Hand Holders are high school volunteers who help make the donation experience easier and more comfortable. Whether it is offering a hand to hold, grabbing a juice box, or just keeping someone company, Hand Holders play an important role at school blood drives.

Want to get involved? Join our monthly virtual training session to learn how to become a Hand Holder. It is simple, helpful, and a great way to support your classmates.

First training: Tuesday, August 19
Then every first Tuesday of the month at 10:00 AM.

All 15- and 16-year-olds require parental consent prior to donating. Download the Consent Form below:

Stand Out at Graduation

LifeStream celebrates students who make a difference by donating blood during high school.
To recognize these life-saving contributions, we award a Red Graduation Cord to students who donate at least three times before graduation. It’s our way of saying thank you for helping save lives.
